What Are Interest Matching Alerts?

Interest Matching Alerts notify you instantly when someone enters your radar range who shares 3 or more common interests with you. It's like having a personal matchmaker that works in real-time.

How Matching Works

When you set up your profile, you select your interests from dozens of categories. When someone with overlapping interests comes nearby:

1. Our system detects them entering your radar range
2. It compares your interests with theirs
3. If you share 3+ interests, an alert triggers
4. You receive a notification with their anonymous preview

Alert Types

• Visual pulse - The matched user's dot pulses with a special color on the radar
• Push notification - "Someone who loves hiking, photography, and coffee is nearby!"
• Sound alert - Optional audio notification (can be disabled)
• Badge counter - Shows how many matches are currently nearby

Customizing Alerts

You have full control over alert settings:

• Match threshold - Set minimum interests (3, 4, or 5+)
• Alert frequency - Immediate, batched hourly, or daily digest
• Priority interests - Flag certain interests as must-match
• Quiet hours - Disable alerts during specific times

Interest Categories

Choose from categories including:

• Sports & Fitness (running, yoga, basketball, etc.)
• Arts & Creative (photography, music, writing)
• Food & Drink (coffee, cooking, wine)
• Entertainment (movies, gaming, anime)
• Travel & Adventure (hiking, camping, travel)
• Lifestyle (reading, pets, sustainability)

Why 3+ Interests?

We found that 3+ shared interests indicates meaningful compatibility while keeping alerts relevant. Fewer matches too many people; more excludes potentially great connections.
